Do you sell any generator or starter parts?
We're actually only set up to sell complete, restored generators and starters but if it's extra we can usually sell it off.
That does mean we don't have any powerhouse generator parts available at any time unless they're specifically
advertised on the page there though.
What are your shipping and handling costs?
Actual cost via UPS Ground as calculated on the spot for each and every customer - just drop us a line with your ZIP
code & what you want and we'll let you know!
Why don't you have a Paypal button for the Powerhouse generators or AR starters?
These guys are really, really rare and usually if we have them they're already claimed, so it was easier to do that and
advertise them one at a time than to refund everyone if we didn't happen to have any complete & working ones lying
about.
Can you ship my starter next-day?
We don't have a problem getting it to you sooner if you're willing to cover the costs!
How are your generators/starters rebuilt?
We do not do a simple “clean it up and hope it works” – we assume every generator or starter needs work, so they
are:
• Completely disassembled and the core and end plates blasted clean and repainted
• New bushings, bearings, terminal post insulators, brushes and field coils installed
• Armatures are cleaned, tested for shorts and breaks with continuity and a growler, then the wiring is given a
light coat of insulation.
• Armature commutators are lathed smooth and the mica undercut
Finally…the generators and starters are bench tested to verify operation
Do your generators and starters have a warranty?
Simply put…Yes. We offer a limited warranty on our generators and starters for 90 days after sale. We know that our
most valuable resource is our reputation and the circle of friends we build up as represented by satisfied customers.
Specific terms follow:
• Our warranty includes all parts and workmanship
• Within the first 30 days after sale, we will offer an exchange or refund of the sales price (minus shipping).
Thereafter, up to 90 days after the sale, we will offer exchange only.
• We are not able to warrant armatures against damage due to improper electrical connections. A generator
armature may easily be burned up if it’s not properly connected to a good battery.
Why are your prices so much lower than supply houses?
What -- are you complaining? Actually, we’re more interested in helping people keep their cars on the road than
retiring early. That’s why our prices reflect only a moderate charge to account for at least some of the time we’ve
invested and fluctuate with the price of copper.
